Richard Archer is currently Professor and Head of Institute of Food, Nutrition and Human Health at Massey University based in Palmerston North.
He spent four years in the deer industry and then 19 years in the dairy industry, mostly in process and business development before returning to Massey University in 2004. Richard is a Principal Investigator with the Riddet Institute where his recent research has been on equipment for personalised food service. He also affiliates to Massey Agriculture and in 2009 published two chapters in the New Zealand book "Future Food Farming".
